MORE FUNDING FOR MENTAL HEALTH SUPPORT & 25 “BOX POLICE STATIONS”
My Top Priorities as Mayor
Crime, violence, poverty, homelessness, and the drug crisis are hurting our city. These challenges are connected, and they require action on all fronts.
My priorities:
🔹 Safer Communities
Public Safety and Economic Growth
Our population has increased by nearly 30% in just a few years, but city services have not kept pace. As Mayor, I will work to:
✅ Hire more police officers to improve response times and community safety.
✅ Support additional police stations and community safety hubs in growing neighborhoods.
✅ Strengthen partnerships between police, businesses, and community organizations.
✅ Focus on crime prevention, addiction treatment, and mental health supports.
✅ Create safer streets, parks, and transit for families, seniors, and workers.
✅ Help local businesses thrive by ensuring safe commercial areas and reducing crime.
A growing city needs growing services. Public safety is essential for strong communities, thriving businesses, and a better quality of life for everyone.
Hayat for Mayor — We Care. We Listen. We Act.
🔹 Drug Crisis Response
- Expand access to treatment, recovery, and mental health services.
- Support outreach teams that connect people to help before they end up in crisis.
- Work with other governments to secure funding for addiction recovery programs.
🔹 Reducing Homelessness
- Support transitional housing and pathways to permanent housing.
- Connect people with employment, training, and support services.
- Focus on moving people from encampments into safer, more stable environments.
🔹 Fighting Poverty
- Create opportunities for jobs, apprenticeships, and skills training.
- Support local businesses that create employment.
- Improve access to city services for families struggling to get ahead.
A city cannot thrive when people feel unsafe, when addiction destroys lives, or when families are trapped in poverty. My goal is a Winnipeg that is safer, cleaner, and more compassionate for everyone.
Real solutions. Real leadership. A city that works for all.
