Do I need to register to vote?

No. There is no separate voter registration process for municipal elections in Winnipeg. The City uses the National Register of Electors (compiled by Elections Canada) as its voters list.

On Election Day, you simply need to bring identification. If your current name and address exactly match what the City has on file, you will be able to vote. Use the tool below to verify your information now.

Who can vote?

Canadian Citizen
You must be a Canadian citizen

Age 18+
You must be 18 or older on Election Day (October 28, 2026)

Winnipeg Resident
You must live in Winnipeg

To vote for School Trustee, you must also be an actual resident of the School Division for at least 6 months.

What if my information doesn't match?

If the tool does not find your information, don't worry. You can still vote by bringing the appropriate identification to your voting place.

Accepted ID includes: Manitoba Driver's License, Manitoba Identification Card, Passport, or other government-issued ID showing your name and current address.
